Overview and Experience
I currently mentor five BAME-led indies who have been granted funding from the BBC’s Small Indie Fund along with giving support to numerous young tv professionals from diverse or disadvantaged backgrounds. I believe I’m on the cusp of taking my career to the next level where I can positively affect our industry, as well as help the next generation of TV professionals coming through. I believe this opportunity can help me take the next step in my career and fulfil my ambition to become a leader in the TV industry. This has been my aim since I started my career, but something others have told me would never happen due to my ethnicity and class.
Self Nominated:
I would like to put myself forward, as I currently consider myself an aspiring future leader hoping to make a positive impact on the TV industry. I have over 12 years TV experience having worked in development, casting, directing, edit producing and now Commissioning.
Although I have mainstream tv experience, having worked on some of the countries biggest entertainment shows, my background and personal taste puts me in the underserved audience demographic. Since I moved in to Commissioning I have been on a mission to increase the amount of diverse shows being made and ensure all productions reflect the audience it serves.
