“ Race Through Comedy “. For ITV’s black History month, I directed prime time documentary “ Craig and Danny’s, Funny Black and on TV that celebrated the history of black British comedy and was “ narrated by Red Dwarfs stars Craig Charles and Danny John Jules.
I began my television career as a researcher at the BBC before becoming an award-winning on-air Promotions director at BBC broadcast. I then moved to New York for several years where I was a director for Channel 4’s NBA basketball show, “NBA 247” for Channel 4 when the great Michael Jordan dominated the sport. During my time in the USA I studied at Tisch Film School, New York and completed an intensive course in screen writing and directing.
Returning to the UK, I moved in to factual documentary where I directed and produced on major network brands including
Channel 4’s “A Place in the Sun”, Secret Millionaire” “Come Dine with me” “Wife swap “ and BBC 3’s
“ Junior Doctors ” and“ “ Sun Sex & Suspicious Parents”. I have also produced on US channels Discovery and National Geographic on brand like “ Gold Rush” and “ Dubai Ultimate Airport”. I am also passionate about making music and archive driven documentaries like BBC 4’s“Janet Jackson – Taking Control” and I was one of the original directors on the BBC’s hit popular culture Series “I love” the 70’s 80’s and 90s”.
My feature length BBC ‘s documentary ” Roots Remembered “ won the Screen Nation award and featured original cast members Le Var Burton, Lou Gosset Junior and Lesley Ugams and won the Screen Nation award and celebrated the 30th Anniversary of Alex Haley’s 1977 bestselling book and TV Phenomenon “ Roots”.
I am also been a mentor for the BFI’s Mouth That’s Roars that gives young diverse teenagers the opportunity to learn documentary skills and tell their own personal stories.
